Performance of few linseed cultivars in advanced yield trial
1986
Begum, D. | Khan, M.S. | Khaleque, M.A.
An advance yield trial was conducted on linseed for three years in Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Central Farm, Joydebpur. The trial included eight strains of linseed collected from different parts of the country and also from outside. The experiment was conducted in 'rabi' seasons of 1982-83, 1983-84 and 1984-85. Data on the following characters were noted: seed yield per hectare (kg) converted from plot yield, seed per plant (g), number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, thousand seed weight (g), number of branches per plant, plant height (cm) and maturity period (days) from ten sample plants of each plot. The high yielding strain P-14-25 and also T-5 were exotic and found significantly later in maturity and taller in height compared to all the other cultivars. Both these strains were medium high in oil content. The train P-14-25 is therefore, considered prospective for future selection.
