Exserohilum pedicellatum causes a root rot disease of corn. Necrotic leaf spots were obtained on pathogenicity tests. The disease has been found in the various field from commercial corn growing areas of Andalucia. Studies of the fungi associated with foot rot of wheat, rice, oats and barley, in this area, failed in the isolation of this species. Corn does not appear to be markedly damaged since little occurrence and no effect on growth was observed. Thus, the disease itself is probably not of great economic importance in Andalucia
