A field trial was conducted in lateritic soil of Konkan to study the effect of different irrigation schedules and mulches on yield of Sorghum (CSH-5) during rabi-hot weather seasons of 1979-80, 1980-81 and 1981-82. Grain yield obtained due to application of irrigations at 1.0 and 0.8 IW/CPE was at par and was significantly superior over the yield obtained under the irrigations scheduled at 0.6 IW/CPE. Irrigations at 1.0 and 0.8 IW/CPE required a total number of 10 and 8 irrigations. Application of paddy straw and grass mulches gave significantly more grain over control (unmulched) treatments. Water use efficiency was highest with lower level of irrigation and use of mulches
