Sulphate (kraft) pulping of tobacco stalks grown in Marmara region in Turkey

In this research experiment Sulphate (kraft) pulps were prepared from tobacco, Nicotiana tabacum L. stalks. Results revealed that this raw material is suitable for the production of many kinds of paper. It was found that impregnation period for 90 minutes at 120 deg C and cooking for two hours at 170 deg C, and adding 15% sulphidity of the dry weight of raw material were the best conditions for pulping, where energy saving, chemical composition and physical properties of paper produced are considered
