A new good grain quality with high yielding rice variety "Jungweonbyeo" was developed from a cross between Manseogbyeo and IR 5533 at Crops Experiment Station, Rural Development Administration in 1984. Jungweongbyeo has medium growth duration, short culm, long panicle, and active tillering ability. Furthermore, it has resistances to leaf and neck blast, stripe and dwarf virus, and moderate resistance to bacterial leaf blight. It has short grain shape and clear rice with low amylose content and good eating quality. The yield potential of Jungweongbyeo was high than Taebaegbyeo and Pungsanbyeo under to normal fertilizer level in ordinary planting culture
