A new high strach yielding sweet potato variety "Seonmi"

A new sweet potato variety, Seonmi, was developed at the Crops Experiment Station in 1985. This variety was selected from a cross between Hwangmi (femail) and Suwon 147 (mail). Seonmi showed 36.3t/ha in marketable root yield and 16% increase in starch yield with 7.47t/ha as compared with one of the leading varieties. The starch content of this variety was relatively higher than any other leading varieties, however, the resistance to black rot (Ceratocystis fimbriata) and soft rot (Rhizopus stolonifer) of this variety showed medium reaction
