In vivo bioassay of crude plant extracts Drechslera maydis (Nisikado) Subram and Jain (Helminthosporium maydis (Nis)) [Philippines]

All the plant extracts were active both as the therapeutant form. In the protective test, Gliricidia sepium significantly reduced the number of spots produced on corn leaves followed by Catharanthus roseus, Kalanchoe pinnata, Leucaena leucocephala and Coleus scutellarioides. The number of leaf spots produced were 9.13, 10.11, 11.86, 13.43 and 11.86, respectively. In the therapeutic test, C. roseus ranked first in reducing the number of spots produced on corn leaves, followed by Gliricidia sepium, K. pinnata, Leucaena leucocephala, and C. scutellarioides. The number of leaf spots produced were 6.66, 9.02, 11.84, and 12.35, and 12.44, respectively
