Evaluation of five technology package for flue-cured tobacco production [Philippines]
1986
Inocente, P.A.
Significant differences among sites for all characters except plant height at flowering and number of harvested leaves were found. Significant differences were also found among technologies and varieties for all characters. The interaction between site and technology was significant for plant height, specific leaf weight, nicotine, reducing sugar content and reducing sugar to nicotine ratio while the interaction between site and variety was significant for all characters except for plant height, cured leaf yield and reducing sugar of standard leaves. Significant variety x technology interaction was found for all characters except number of harvested leaves, yield and quality characters and reducing sugar content of top leaves. The second order interaction was significant for all characters except plant height, number of harvested leaves and quality index. In general, low and medium input technologies gave the lowest yield and crop value but produced better quality leaves over the rest. The varieties differed in their yield potential and leaf quality. In any technology level, PT-1 gave significantly lesser reducing sugar to nicotine ratio in all sites tested except under medium input technology in Ilocos Sur [Philippines]. In general, the reducing sugar to nicotine ratio under the low and medium input technologies were higher than the rest
