An economic analysis of capture fishery activities in Lake Bato and Lake Buhi [Philippines]

This project was conducted with the general purpose of analyzing socio-economic information for Lake Bato and Lake Buhi fishery resources management and conservation. A total of three hundred samples which is believed to be near complete enumeration of full-time fishermen in the study areas were surveyed for primary data on capture fishing business activities. The information which were obtained through interviews of capture fishermen includes the following: demographic characteristics of fishermen, species and volume of fish catch, type of fishing gears, capital investment in fishing, production costs and returns, fishermen institutional support services, fishermen's problems, etc. Analysis of these information was done through simple tabular analysis, wherein the performance of fishermen from Lake Bato and Lake Buhi were compared
