Linear programming as a tool in farm decision making
1984
Udarbe, F.T.
Only six crops (tobacco, corn, onion, tomato, peanut and mungo) had the complete existing data needed in setting up a linear programming problem. Through the optimum feasible program developed in order to maximize profit, 1.2277 hectare must be planted to tobacco and .2724 hectare to onion in a 1.5 hectare land area. Other resources needed were a cash capital of P2,723.65, 524.23 mandays, and 34.375 man-animal days of labor. Onion required additional resource inputs of P4776.15 of cash capital, 36.36 mandays, and 9.262 man-animal-days labor. Maximum net income generated from tobacco was P3049.60 and P4002.35 from onion with a total net income of P7051.95 from both crops
