Environmental impact assessment for watershed managers: perspective from air and climate
1986
Cardenas, M.L.
Air and climate are major components of the environmental compartment called the atmosphere. Both can influence directly or indirectly the quality of other environmental compartments, especially the sociosphere. A useful procedure for impact prediction and assessment involves separation of natural climatic fluctuations from man-induced climatic changes. Integration of air quality data and meteorological information at micro and meso-scales enhances this key step in the environmental impact assessment (EIA). The case studies presented indicate that air and climate impacts on man and vice versa are indeed important in watershed management, but the art and science of prediction leave much room for improvement
