Pregnant cows were given zinc sulphate for 7 weeks before parturition in a daily dose of 3 g. An increased body weight, better vitality and lower mortality were noted in their offsprings during the first two weeks of life. Dietary zinc increased the content of colostral gammaglobulins, carotenes, zinc and magnesium
