The experiment results have proved that among the lines tested there are the forms of a greatly shortened straw which can be used in breeding short straw and lodging-resistant rye varieties. The lines with share of S.vavilovii appeared to be particularly useful for this purpose. All the lines tested can constitute a valuable material in breeding fodder varieties of rye distinguishing themselves with a high content of total protein in grain
