One-year-old shoots of 5-year-old fir seedlings, replaced after 1- and 3-year period, constituted an experimental material. Cuttings were taken from 100 plants by one shoot from seven places selected out in crowns. One half of the bulk of shoots of each kind was treated with a rooting stimulator (hormonization). Apical shoots were the worst while inter-whorl ones revealed the best vitality. Both the location of shoots on crowns and the hormonal treatment as well proved to be important for the level of shoot rooting. The treatment influenced also the increase of average numbers of roots and their length on individual plants. The findings confirm a possibility of rooting the cuttings of the common fir in a high percentage with the exception of apical shoots
