Pig feeding trials using locally available feeds-stuffs conducted by personnel of the Division of Agriculture, Dominica
1983
Bellon, S. (Ministry of Agriculture (Dominica))
Pig banana supplement (PBS) at 0.45 kg/day and bananas ad lib was the most economical feeding system in terms of cost per kg liveweight gain. Substituting 50 % of PBS with coconut meal utilized more local feed but more time was needed to attain the desired slaughter weight. The latter ration was recommended with more pigs per batch raised to a lower slaughter weight. In an uncompleted trial, no adverse effect of substituting 25 % of the recommended PBS concentrate with leucaena was experienced
