Vaccination of pregnant sows with vaccines containing antigen Clostridium perfringens type C reduces considerably the mortality rate caused by necrotic enteritis. Piglets in the infected herds also have to be vaccinated, although they sucked the immune mothers' colostrum. It is possible to perform a continued vaccination of piglets against C. perfringens type C and Escherichia coli infections.
