The material for the inveastigation consisted of 5 wheat genotypes, 4 winter (SAva, Talent, Bezostaya-1, Atlas 66) and 1 spring variety (Siete Cerros). Those 5 parents were crossed diallelly. The following was found: 1) There were significant differences in the protein content in the grain and leaf among the mean values of the investigated genotypes and F1 hybrids. 2) Inheritance of the protein content in the leaf and grain is determined by the influence of genes with additive and non-additive effects. 3) Regarding the great share of the additive genetic variability in the creation of new varieties with higher protein content, an improvement method based on the utilization of the additive genetic variance should be applied. 4) The genotype Atlas 66 which has the highest mean value of the protein content in the leaf (x=32.1%) and in the grain (X=20.6%) also had the best general combining properties. 5) There was a significant positive correlation (r=0.493) between the total protein content in the leaf and grain.
