Among the Digenea, the new problem posed by the possibility of the specific determination by means of studies on the cercarial chaetotaxy is analyzed. Until now, the systematic distinction between species was mainly based on the morpho-anatomic differentiation at adult level. Within several families, the cercarial chaetotaxy allows to distinguish even between sympatric species with biologically and morpho-anatomically non differentiable adults. Taking into account that Digenean species are usually determined but at the level of the adult stage, a delicate future problem is posed
