Based on the process of scab extension, six resistance components were set up in this paper. These components were those from inoculation to appearance of symptoms, from inoculated site to spikelet axis, the spreading of disease from spikelet axis to the head axis, and degree of the disease of 15, 20 and 25 days after inoculating. Results indicated that the resistance components of scab extension were present in varieties. The mode of inhibiting the pathogen was various in different resistant varieties. The days of scab fungus spreading from inoculation site to main head axis and degree of disease 15 and 25 days after inoculating were three important criteria in measuring the rate of spreading of disease. These resistance genes can be accumulated using the parents with different good resistance components. This analysis method of resistance components to scab in wheat was a new approach to study the inheritance of resistance and to screen and utilize varieties with characterizing different resistance components.
