The effects of daylength on the growth, flowering habits and yield of okro (Hibiscus esculentus L.)
1976
Oyirifi, M.
The effect of daylength on three varieties of okro, Ho and Kade (local) and Clemson Spineless (foreign) is reported. With the exception of Clemson Spineless, the day neutral variety, flowering was markedly delayed as the daylength was extended. The Kade variety was most affected and did not flower under 16th daylight treatment. Plant height, number of leaves per plant, first internode length as well as the total number of nodes also increased significantly in all varieties as the daylength was extended to 16h
