1986
Al-Ani, H.A. | Haddad, S.Y. (Baghdad Univ., Baghdad (Iraq). Coll. of Agriculture)
This study showed that the total number of species which have been recorded in some of the locations situated north and west of Baiji are 58 of which the annuals represent 59% of the total species. The average vegetation cover in the total quadrates is very small and it occupies 10%. The life forms indicate that the number of phanerophytes and chamaephytes is very low. The precentage of frequency classes showed variation in class E and A. From this investigation it can be stated that vegetation characters are subjected severly to many environmental factors, this includes different kind of disturbancies by human being. The area needs a real care in conservation, management and research in order to reduce the shifing of sand to neighbouring regions. Furthermore some native species which have been recorded in this study could be used to enhance in stabilization of sand dunes
