The influence of calcium concentration in nutrient solution and relative humidity on yield and blossom end rot of nutrient film technique grown tomato plants
1987
Alwan, A.H. (Mosul Univ., Nineveh Province (Iraq). Coll. of Agriculture and Forestry)
Three different calcium concentrations in solution have been used, 190 ppm Ca as a control), one with 1/2 and one with twice this amount (i.e. 380, 190 and 100 ppm of Ca++ respresenting T1, T2, and T3, respectively). Plants grown with high level of calcium gave higher cumulative number of flowers and fruit per plant. The average relative humidity was increased more than 90% on six days and Blossom-end rot (BER) was noticed on fruit of low solution Ca plants during the 12 days after the RH was increased and after 16 days for medium Ca plants. High calcium plants gave higher yield but root dry weight was the lowest
