A split-split plot design was used, with moldboard and chisel followed by sweeping as main treatments, and unweeded fallow, disk harrow, duck foot and spike tooth harrow as sub treatments, each split into two sub-sub treatments: fertilized and unfertilized. Results indicated that fallowing by duck foot or spike tooth harrow for weed control ended with higher soil moisture content, 427; 426 mm, than disk harrow or unweeded fallow treatments, 392; 331 mm. Soil moisture storage due to rainfall after fallow was decreased as the soil moisture content at the end of the fallow period had increased. However, no significant differences in soil moisture storage during the growing season were detected between chisel and moldboard fall tillage treatments, 376; 387 mm. Chisel and moldboard plows had resulted in the same amount of soil water depletion during the growing season, 378; 377 mm, while depletion in fertilized wheat treatment was significantly higher than for the unfertilized ones, 394; 360 mm. Wheat yield was highest in the duck foot and lowest in unweeded fallow treatment. Duck foot and unweeded fallow were significantly different than spike and disk harrow which gave intermediate yields. However, yields between moldboard and chisel plow showed no significant differences, while fertilized plots were significantly higher than unfertilized ones. Best yields were obtained in duck foot fallow tillage, chisel 4.11 Mg/ha; moldboard 3.6 Mg/ha, and fertilized treatment 0.06, 0.05 Mg/ha. This study was conducted for the purpose of determining the effect of fallow techniques; fall tillage plows; N and P fertilizers rates on soil moisture storage and depletion, and on wheat yields
