Results showed the Chogo variety is an early maturing cabbage and had the highest percentage heading, greatest yield per plot and lowest percentage of non-formed (non-marketable) heads. Scorpio on the other hand, had the heaviest average weight per head, most compact and largest heads, and was the most resistant to diamond back moth (DBM). With carrots, Kuroda Chantenay 8 inch had outstanding performance. It had early formation of storage root, total yield, biggest, heaviest and longest storage roots. This variety was also observed to be resistant to blight as compared to the other 2 varieties, Chantenay Red Core 8 and Nova Kuroda. Of the two garden pea varieties under study, Kalantao generally outperformed Chinese pea in terms of growth increment, percentage fruit setting, slightly better adaptability to the present study conditions, longer pods, and highest total yield.
