Evaluation of IKI-7899 (Atabron 5EC) against Plutella xylostella Linn. [Philippines]

IKI-7899 at the rate of 0.025, 0.05 or 0.10 kg ai/ha was evaluated against Plutella xylostella on cabbage. Methamidophos at 0.125 kg ai/ha was used as standard insecticide. Weekly spray applications commenced 7 days after transplanting up to 14 days before harvest. Insecticidal efficacy was based on larval and pupal counts, degree of damage and quality and weight of harvest. IKI-7899 at 0.025, 0.05 or 0.10 kg ai/ha significantly reduced the pest population compared to Methamidophos and the untreated. Cabbage heads at harvest from IKI-7899 treated plots were rated sound and Class A, and the yield was increased almost twice than those of Methamidophos-treated plots.
