Evaluation of the field efficacy of HD-231 and LEP-20, Bacillus thuringiensis isolates for corn borer control [Philippines]
1987
Padua, L.E. | Ebora, R.V. | Ebuenga, C.D.
The two isolates of Bacillus thuringiensis, LEP-20 and HD-231, at 0.69 and 0.75 g/ga, respectively, were found to be equally effective in controlling corn borer field population. The isolates were as effective as THURICIDE in reducing corn borer population. Although the B. thuringiensis-based insecticides were less effective than the chemical insecticides (i.e. Furadan and Azodrin 202R)), the former attracted predators and parasites of corn borer egg masses and larvae. The efficacy of the B. thuringiensis spray droplets was found to decline with respect to time. One-to 2-day-old spray droplets gave better degree of corn borer control than 3-day-old spray droplets. Spray droplets more than 3 days old were totally ineffective
