There were eight species found in the study station. These were Sonneratia caseolaris, Avicennia marina, Rhizophora apiculata, Ceriops decandra, A. officinalis, R. mucronata, Xylocarpus granatum and Aegiceras corniculatum. Sonneratia caseolaris, R. apiculata, and A. officinalis were the dominant species occupying the seaward fringe, middle zones, and landward border, respectively. Only S. caseolaris and A. officinalis had high important values that correlated with the physicochemical variables. Sonneratia caseolaris seemed to favor habitats with higher sand content, salinity, and pH and lower organic matter content. Avicennia officinalis appeared to prefer habitats characterized by relatively lower pH, salinity, and sand content and higher organic matter content.
