Sugar beet micropropagation in vitro
1987
Mezei, S. | Kovacev, L. | Dokic, P. (Institut za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo, Novi Sad (Yugoslavia))
The aim of the study was to investigate the possibility of producing sugar beet clones by stimulating axillary buds, to test wild growing variations at the level of the number of chromosomes and phenological observations in the field of differentiated morphological change after the acclimatization and phototermal induction. The following was found out: 1) the cytokinin content influenced the regenerative potential of the sugar beet clones: 2) biological potential for the regeneration depended significantly on the genotypes; 3) somaclonal variations in the chromosome number did not occur. With both investigated genotypes there was monitored shortening of the flower stem even up to 50% in relation to the resulting material. It is possible to expect a number of 200 regenerates within a 1-year period.
