Morphological and biological, productional and qualitative features of some oriental tobacco varieties in the region of Prilep [Yugoslavia]

Three-year investigations were carried out with the tobacco varieties, "Prilep P 12-2/1", "Prilep 7", Prilep 34", "Prilep 84" and "Prilep 149" which were cultivated in the region of Prilep in Macedonia (Yugoslavia). Morphological and biologic features were investigated. According to the yield per stalk and hectar, all the investigated varieties were better than the "P 12-2/1" control, and the economic effect in all the varieties was significantly better, as well. Chemical composition of the fermented tobacco was characterized by low nicotine, protein and ash contents and high content of soluble sugars.
