Physiological variation in three genotypes of maize (Zea mays L.)
1989
Bose, Bandana | Raghuvanshi, A.K.
The different physio-morphological and certain biochemical characters were studied in three popular varieties of maize, viz., Jaunpur, Manjhari and Tin Pakhia and experiments were carried out upto 2th day of plant age in respect to their shoot length, root length, number of leaves per plant, leaf area, fresh and dry weights of leaves, protein content and nitrate reductase activity in leaves. All the physio-morphological parameters were found highest is case of the variety Manjhari and this was followed by Jampur and Tin Pakhia. However, the study of protein content and nitrate reductase activity in primary, secondary and tertiary leaves reveals a separate picture for all three varieties.
