A pot experiment was conducted in the greenhouse to study the effects of varying levels of N, P and K and their combinations and liming on the growth and yield of corn in Annam clay loam of Philippine. The soil was strongly acidic (pH 5.15). It contained adequate organic matter (3.22%), high exchangeable Ca (46.93 me/100g), high exchangeable Al (0.33 me/g) but very low content of available P (1.22) ppm). CEC of the soil was satisfactory (56.75 me/100g). The soil had P fixing capacity. It was found that plant height of corn increased with increasing levels of N, P and K and their combinations. Plants grown on soil without P and lime were stunted and showed severe P deficiency symptoms. Liming of soil along with NPK fertilization produced significant increases of fresh weight of corn. Highest and significant dry matter yield of corn (37.63 gm/pot) was obtained due to NPK (180-480-240) fertilization with line. It may be conducted from the results that NPK fertilization and liming are essential for corn cultivation in acid soils.
