Two experiments, one in 1986 and other in 1988 were conducted to study the efficacy of Dithane M-45 - 3 g/L (10 min dip) and Tecto 2% dust (2 g/kg of tuber) in controlling the rots of potato tubers under natural storage conditions. The apparently healthy tubers of the var. Cardinal were treated with two fungicides before storing them in wooden shelves of insect proof netted boxes. The storage period was from March taken on monthly basis. The rottage of tubers were 44% (Dithane M-45) 38.2% (Tecto 2% dust) and 61.76% (control) indicating that Tecto 2% dust is more effective in minimizing the tuber rot under natural storage condition. The effectiveness were 38.2% higher in case of Tecto 2% dust and 28.9% in case of Dithane M-45 over control. The tuber rots were mainly due to bacteria and Fusarium spp.
