Variation of protein and fat content in M2 of semi-wild soybeans radiated by gamma ray

An attempt was made to investigate the variation in lipid and protein content of semi-wild soybean induced by gamma rays. Two semi-wild soybeans were treated by gamma ray of Co 60 with dosages of 9.3 KRad, 13.95 KRad, 18.6 KRad respectively. Lipid and protein content of the semi-wild soybeans were analysed in the second generation. The results demonstrated that the protein content and lipid content of treated populations was higher and lower than correspondents of the control respectively in the second generation. The higher expected genetic advance was obtained for the selection of protein content in the second generation. Simple correlation analysis revealed that lipid content and seed number per plant were apparently negatively correlated with protein content. Protein content was apparently positively correlated with 100 seed weight. Lipid content was positively correlated with growing date.
