Studies were conducted under controlled conditions (25 C and 70% R.H.) to quantify the relationship between weight of pupae on the one hand and pupal duration, adult longevity, number of eggs laid per female and weight of eggs on the other. Data obtained revealed that: - The duration of the pupal stage and moth longevity were correlated strongly with weight of the pupa. - There was also a positive relationship between the number of eggs laid, the weight of the eggs and the weight of the female pupa. - Partial regression analysis showed that with 97.9% explained variance, the three tested factors (weight of pupa, pupal duration and adult longevity) together seemed to be almost totally responsible for the number of eggs laid per female, i.e. for the fecundity of the female moth.
