In Ewais mango, number of set fruits/ panicle in the off year was significantly lesser than that in the on year, but the opposite was true at harvesting. Fruit drop could be divided into three distinct phases, namely, post setting drop during the first two months of fruit age, June drop when fruits attained 60-75 days old and preharvest drop just before fruit maturity. The higher rates of fruit drop were generally associated with periods of lesser auxins content in fruit, especially seed. At any given age of fruit, auxins content was generally higher in adhering than in abscissing fruit, in seed than in fruit flesh and in the off than in the on year. The development of seed coast rather than the climatic factors seems to be responsible of June drop.
