Two field experiments were conducted at Sakha Agricultural Research Station Farm, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate to study the effect of puddling and algalization with BGA on the efficiency of nitrogenous fertilizers applied in different sources, levels and methods of application to flooded rice (Giza 172 variety). The averages increase due to the rate of 40 kg N/fed. Over the 20 kg N/fed. rate were 6.7 and 18.5% corresponding to about 215 and 284 kg grains/ fed. for the non-algalized and algalized soils respectively. Application of 40 kg N/fed. as paper tissue have the highest protein content for grains particularly in algalized treatments. Comparing the effect of method of application, the data indicated that when urea was added in paper tissue bags resulted in the greatest yield of grains. Urea coated with sulphur (SCU) gave the smallest values while splitting the amount of applied urea came in between. The highest fertilizer nitrogen efficiency was found when urea was applied in two times and the efficiency was higher without puddling than with puddling. Single application of urea in the unpuddled plots gave higher straw yield that split application. while in puddled plots, vice versa was found. Urea applied to treatments under puddling gave higher nitrogen efficiency ratio (NER) than urea-treated plots without puddling.
