Study on water requirements of sesame in middle and upper Egypt
1987

Three sesame varieties i.e. two mutant lines No. 8 and 48 and "Giza 25" local variety were examined under three available moisture depletions (40.60 and 80% ASMD) at Fayoum (Middle Egypt) and Shandwil (Upper Egypt) during 1985 and 1986 seasons. The first treatment of irrigation gave, in most cases, the highest mean for growth characters as well as seed yield and its components. Although Giza 25 variety produced higher number of branches/plant, the two mutant lines surpassed its seed yield per plant and per feddan due to their superiority in number of capsules/plant. Seed oil content (%) exhibited an increase as soil moisture depletion increased with no significant varietal difference.
