Growth and yield of two rice varieties as influenced by algalization [Egypt]
1988
Sultan, M.S. (Mansoura Univ. (Egypt). Faculty of Agriculture)
The present study was carried out at the Experimental Farm, Fac. of Agric., Mansoura Univ. during 1985 and 1986 growing seasons. The aim of this work was to study the effect of algalization on two rice varieties. In both seasons, the experiment was laid out in a splitplot system with four replications. The results obtained from this study revealed that:- The variety IR 50 tended to be superior and exceeded IR 28 in all the characters studied. Increases of 74 and 71% in grain yield due to algalization + N over the untreated control were performed in the first and second seasons, respectively. Significant interaction effects between the varieties and N + BGA were observed concerning grain yield and grain protein content in the second season and straw yield in both seasons. The recommended treatment for obtaining the highest rice grain yield was planting IR 50 variety and adding 60 kgm N + BCA/ fad.
