Two field experiments were carried out during the two successive growing seasons 1983 and 1984, at the Faculty of Agriculture Experimental Farm Zagazig Univ. to study the effect of stripping and topping of corn on photosynthetic pigments in cropped soybean leaves. The results of the combined analysis indicated that stripping and topping of corn did not affect both chlorophyll-b content and chlorophyll-b content and chlorophyll-a; b ratio in cropped soybean leaves. While both chlorophyll-a and total chlorophyll (a+b) contents were significantly higher due to topping compared with stripping the leaves under the ear in alternation. However, relative photosynthetic potential for grain (RPP) of corn was not significantly changed by stripping and topping of corn. The pigments content of soybean leaves and RPP for grain yield of corn were not significantly affected by maize cultivar. However, intercropping caused a reduction in chlorophyll-a, a/b, a+b and total carotenoids content with about 3 62, 15 and 29%. While, RPP of corn was significantly increased with about 80% due to intercropping
