The effects of four seed rates in Monoufeyah governorate on growth characteristics and yield and some contributing characters of three wheat varieties were studied. Sakha 61 variety surpassed Sakha 8 and Sakha 62 varieties in number of tillers/ plant, number of spikes/plant, spike length, number of grains/spike, grain yield/spike, grain yield/plant and grain/faddan. Whereas, Sakha 8 exceeded other tested varieties in plant height, number of spikelets/spike, straw yield/faddan and the percentage of protein in grains. Increasing seed rate from 250 to 400 grains/m2 tended to decrease plant height, number of tillers/ plant, flag leaf area, number of spikes/ plant, spike length, number and weight of grains/spike, 1000-grain weight, grain yield/plant and protein percentage. On the other hand, increasing seed rate increased grain yield/faddan up to 350 grains/m and straw yield faddan as well as ash percentage up to 400 grains/m2.
