A survey of sulphur-nitrogen ratio in some Ghanaian soils under different vegetative covers
1980
Boa-Amponsem, F.K.
The distribution of sulphur-nitrogen ratios in some Ghanaian soils under different vegetative covers is reported. The soils were Ejura and Amantin from the interior savanna zone, and Bediasi, Ofin and Akroso from the semi-deciduous rain-forest zone. The amounts of soluble sulphates increased with depth but nitrogen content decreased resulting in increasing S:N ratio which were higher in the savanna than in the forest soils. pH correlated better with the S:N ratio than organic matter and phosphorus
