Effect of mastitis on the selenium concentration of milk
1989
Sarudi, I. | Lassune-Merenyi, Zs. | Nagy, I.
The authors conclude that milk of cows diseased with mastitis containes more selenium than that of the healthy cows kept in the same dairy unit. Surpluss selenium accompanying mastitis was also unanimously visible when milk of the healthy and diseased quarters of the udder were compared. Since selenium concentration of the milk depends (also) on the health status of the mammary gland, examination of the selenium content of the milk may reflect the selenium status of cows free from mastitis.
