The authors verified the presence of the western flower thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis also in Hungary. It has been introduced into Western European glasshouses assumedly in 1983 from North America and following the introduction it spread fast throughout the continent. The damage of the western flower thrips was noticed in Hungary so far only on ornamentals grown in glasshouses, predominantly on Gerbera plants.
