Six treatments (0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 g agritone/100 1 warer) were arranged in latin square design. Application of agritone started at time of first flowering and continued at weekly intervals throughout the harvest season (9 weeks). This experiment was repeated in three seasons: spring 1986, autumn 1986 and spring 1987. Multiple application of 80 g agritone/100 1 in spring seasons resulted in significantly highest early, mid, late and total yields with larger fruits. The same treatment gave highest fruit set and number of seedless fruits and lowest number of aborted fruits compared with the control. In autumn season, all treatments gave similar responses in fruit set, abortion and seedlessness; however, the 100 g agritone/100 1 treatment gave larger fruits and higher total yields compared with the control. Sex expression was not affected in all seasons; the dry matter content of vegetative growth was reduced at the 100 g agritone/100 1 water treatment. Hence, it is recommended to use agritone at 80 g/100 1 water to enhance summer squash yield in spring under plastic house conditions similar to those of the present investigation
