Influence of rhizosphere colonization of antagonistic bacterium, AC-1, for controlling Phytophthora blight of red-pepper was investigated in controlled culturing area and in the field. It showed high control efficacy against the disease both in controlled culturing area and in the field. The bacterization of AC-1 is higher in controlled culturing area than in the field. Rhizosphere population of antagonistic bacterium was maintained higher in the treatment of carrier than that of soil drenching of culture. When the antagonistic bacterium was applicated into the soil, it had no effect on the population of soil microorganisms
