F1 hybrids and parental lines were planted in two seasons to evaluate and compare their performance in terms of bacterial wilt resistance, processing qualities and other important horticultural characteristics. Hybrids exhibited heterosis and heterobeltiosis in yield, days to first harvest, days to 50% flowering and bacterial wilt resistance. Heterosis and heterobeltiosis were not established in the fruit and processing qualities evaluated except for lycopene content. However, most of the hybrids passed the standard set for each quality. Significant interaction between entries and environment was significant for yield. Further evaluation has to be made to establish this observation on the other parameters.
