1987
Momongan, V.G. | Sarabia, A.S.
Evaluation results indicated that plasma progesterone was very low at the time of insemination (0.145 + - 0.065 ng/ml) but gradually increased above 2.0 ng/ml during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy and declined to 1.21 + - 0.024 ng/ml on the third trimester (123-320 days). At about 15 days pre-partum, plasma progesterone increased to a peak of 2.59 + - 0.71 ng/ml and dropped sharply at parturition to 0.543 + - 0.157 ng/ml. Rectal palpation indicated that uterine horns returned to normal size and shape on day 33.15 + - 2.64 post-partum and the cervix stabilized at a diameter of 2.68 + - 0.09 on day 51.8 + - 2.29 post-partum. The CL of pregnancy regressed 7.80 + - 1.98 days based on ovarian palpation. Based on the use of vasectomized bull and plasma progesterone level, estrus occurred 101.0 + - 17.5 and 116.1 + - 19.9 days, respectively. Suckling tended to increase the duration of post-partum and estrus
