Philippine cattle: a breed to conserve and develop
1987
Parker, B.A. (Philippines Univ., Los Banos, College, Laguna (Philippines). Inst. of Animal Science)
Historically, the so-called Philippine cattle is not truly native to the country. But through many generations of breeding it has adapted to the local condition and has already acquired useful germplasm unique to its own. Now, the Philippine cattle is faced with the perils of extinction caused by the slaughter and indiscriminate breedings with imported exotic breeds. Hence, with the presented extent of information and appraisal of the Philippine cattle's useful germplasm, it is hoped that research and scientists would minimize the chance of repeating similar and already expounded areas of studies about Philippine cattle; but would find this strain a potential one for more extensive researches- or better breakthrough- in its conservation and development.
