A field experiment was conducted on a brown soil of a good wheat complex and low boron content to study the effect of boron applications on yield of crops grown in a four-year rotation. In the first year of study the rates of 0; 1.0; 2.0; and 4.0 kg B/ha in the form of borax solution were applied to the soil for sugar beets. Sigificant yield increases of sugar beets in the first year and spring wheat in the fourth year of rotation were obtained due to application of 2 kg B/ha. The highest B effectiveness, amounting to 17.4 cereal units per 1 kg B, was obtained with rate of 1 kg B/ha; the utilization of the element also was highest at 1 kg rate and averaged 26.6 percent. Higher B rates increased soil B content from a low class to a good class
