The usefulness of the cytoplasmatic-nucleous male sterile wheat (cms) to ergot production was investigated. The degree of infection of cv. Grana with Triticum aestivum cytoplasm and (cms) analog of cv. Grana with Triticum timopheevi cytoplasm in the conditions of artificial inoculation was investigated. The ear infection by ergot was found for cms-Grana analog while ears of Grana were completly resistant. The direct effect of Triticum timopheevi cytoplasm on susceptibility to ergot infection was not found. A comparison of the number of ergot sclerotia in the ears of cut off husk and not-cut off husk showed the influence of stigmata accessibility on increase of ergot infection. The negative effect of fertilization on degree of ergot infection was found. The period of sensitiveness of fertilized ears to ergot infection was shorter than for sterile ears. The susceptibility to infection was considerably decreased four days after infection. By eight days after fertilization flowers were resistant to infection. The male sterile ears were still susceptible to infection by 8th and 12th day the first infection term
